Ivanhoe Mines, Gold Fields and AngloGold Ashanti join Energy and Mines Africa Virtual Summit

Senior mining leaders are joining Energy and Mines Africa Virtual Summit, May 4-6 to share their strategies for renewable energy as a means of addressing energy costs and security challenges and meeting ESG and climate targets.

Mining executives will also provide important insights on the challenges for moving projects forward including commercial structuring, regulatory and licensing approvals. Recent additions to the agenda include:

· Marna Cloete, President and CFO, Ivanhoe Mines

· Martin Preece, Executive Vice President, Gold Fields South Africa

· Stewart Bailey, Executive Vice President – Corporate Affairs & Sustainability, AngloGold Ashanti

Senior executives from De Beers Group, Centamin, Trevali Mining Corporation, RIDA Group, Newmont Africa, Perseus Mining, Syrah Resources, B2Gold, Impala Platinum, Sibanye-Stillwater, Orion Minerals, Pan African Resources, Resolute Mining, and Giyani Metals are also confirmed to speak.

3. NERSA recommends Approval for Gold Fields’ 40 MW Solar Project

Marking a key development for renewable energy projects for South African mines, the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) recently recommended that the Energy Regulator approve Gold Fields’ license application for a 40 MW solar project for its South Deep mine, in Gauteng.

Martin Preece, Executive Vice President, Gold Fields South Africa will present the latest developments for the project during Energy and Mines Africa Virtual Summit, May 4-6.

NERSA’s Dennis Seemela will also present and provide an update on key regulatory developments for renewable energy projects for mines.
